INTRODUCTION

Hello, my name is Derek Rogers, I was born on the 30th of May 1987 and I have High Functioning Autism. This website is about how I look at the world from my perspective, about my autism, and about helping people to understand others on the autistic spectrum so that they can help them more. It also shares my interests with other people and many other things that I want to share with anyone who has a look at this website. You can think of it as being like a book that you could dip into now and again. As there is a lot to read, you can come back to read different sections whenever you want to, and unlike a printed book, I do update it from time to time, hence the date on my home page will change so that you can see when it’s been updated.

As mentioned on my home page, there are fifteen sections on this website including this one, and some of them have got colour-coded links that take you to Wikipedia, YouTube, and Amazon if you click on them. The links that take you to Wikipedia are in blue, the links that take you to YouTube are in red, and the links that take you to Amazon are in green. As of January 2015, I’ve done all of them so that they’re not underlined, but will be underlined while you’ve got your curser on any one of them. You will need an Amazon account if you want to order any item that gets mentioned, although depending wherever you are in the world, it probably wouldn’t be possible for anyone who lives outside Europe to order some of the items that get mentioned on this website as probably some of them may not be viewable outside Europe.

I have a great many links on my website, and I wouldn’t expect anyone to click on every single one of them, and some of them that you may want to click on, you can do so after you’ve read my website. You may not want to visit most of the Wikipedia ones that are in blue as you may have already heard of some of those things, and there are a lot of YouTube ones that are in red. They give you a chance to watch the clips if you are interested in doing so, though you probably won’t want to watch all of them. Also, I can’t give everything that is mentioned on this website blue Wikipedia links because in the past, when I tried to give something mentioned on it a blue Wikipedia link and it has an apostrophe in the name, when I uploaded it and I clicked on it, it came up with ‘bad title’ on the Wikipedia page because there was the percent symbol in the address where the apostrophes were supposed to be.

Also, I did have a section on my website called ‘My Calendar Photographs’ but I had to take it off because they featured pictures that I took with my digital camera of every calendar month from January 2015 to December 2017, and quite frankly they will have reminded me of an unhappy time period in my life which lasted from 2015 to 2017. 2015 was not a good year for me because of so many negative occurrences that upset me over the course of that year, 2016 was not a good year for me because of several incidents that happened over the course of that year, some of which I had nothing to do with on the other hand, and 2017 was not a good year for me either because there was a lot of personal stuff going on that year that were causing all sorts of problems for me, and that’s why I had to sacrifice my calendars section. 2018 has been much better for me nevertheless. To be quite frank, I’m no longer all that interested in what year it is despite still needing to know.

And lastly, if you’re on Facebook, and I know that not everyone who views this site is on Facebook, and also you don’t have to be on my friends list to do this, if you’ve very much enjoyed looking at my website, then after you have had a look at it, put a link to it on your home page and get your friends to have a look at it, and then get them to put a link to it on their home pages and get their friends to have a look at it, and so on, and let it spread throughout, that way I get more hits, but only if you want to. I don’t want to put pressure on anyone to do that, it just means a lot to me if I have as many hits a possible. Anyway I hope you enjoy reading my website as much as I enjoy working on it, however I wouldn’t expect anyone to read all of it in one go.
